There is some good news for us. "For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ , for it is the power of God to salvation for everyone who believes, for the Jew first and also for the Greek." Romans 1:16
The word gospel means, "good news" but before we can understand the good news we need to understand the bad news first. "There is none who does good, no not one. " Romans 3:11 "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." Romans 3:23
The bad news is is that we are sinners and nothing we do - good works, being baptized, joining a church, moral living - none of these can take care of our sin problem.
The good news is that God has done something for us that we couldn't do for ourselves. "But has demonstrated His own love toward us in that while we were still sinners Christ died for us." Romans 5:8 “For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord." Romans 6:23
Jesus Christ died on the cross and paid the price for our sins. All we need to do is accept God's free gift of salvation.
How do we receive God's gift of salvation? “If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead you will be saved. For with the heart one believes to righteouness and with the mouth confession is made to salvation." Romans 10:9,10 "Whoever calls on the name of the Lord will be saved." Romans 10:13
We simply call out to God and ask Him to save us and He will.
If you want to make that important choice to ensure your eternal salvation, take time right now to pray outloud this prayer of grace.
Lord Jesus, I want to know you personally. Thank you for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving me of my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of the throne of my life. Make me the kind of person You want me to be. Amen.
